Christian Village, Accra, Ghana, is a place of great hope and great suffering. Over 6,000 people live in this disadvantaged enclave, many without running water or indoor plumbing. Most suffer from food scarcity and many sleep on the floor. Yet they persevere. We know that we cannot put an end to this suffering but... WE KNOW THAT WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
Our organization is built on a foundation of compassion and transparency. We promise to show you where your donations are going. Our Directors visit our catchment area - at their own expense - to personally assure you that we are doing the hard work and making lives just a little better.
Christian Village is a place; a neighborhood in Accra, Ghana. It is where we are doing the work. We don't like the term "non-denominational" - we are omni-denominational! We are not affiliated with any particular religion or religious institution, and yet in all major world religions we can find the direction to attend to the affairs of those less advantaged among us, and to see the divinity in each person. We are willing to work with any group that shares our values and purpose.
Henry James Joseph, Chair
An NYS Administrative Law Judge, Jim began ACVF when he saw the need and could not turn away.
Mitchell Senat, Treasurer
Entrepreneur and shop owner, Mitch joined Jim to help meet the need.
Lifelong Christian Village resident Raphael K. Akafo was volunteering with ACVF before it was officially in existence. Our "Chief of Staff", Raphael oversees the food distribution pilot program, literally picking up the food with volunteer help and distributing it to our recipients as well as surveying the needs for housing rehabilitation and overseeing those projects. Raphael looks forward to growing with our program, and we look forward to needing to put him on salary full-time one day soon!
